RCSB PDB team at Rutgers and UCSD. Presented by Maria Voigt (RCSB Protein Data Bank | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey |Center for Integrative Proteomics Research | 174 Frelinghuysen Rd, Piscataway, NJ 08854-8076)Protein Data Bank archive (PDB) is the single repository of information about the 3D structures of proteins, nucleic acids, and complex assemblies. It is managed by the Worldwide Protein Data Bank partnership (wwPDB; wwpdb.org). The Research Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics Protein Data Bank (RCSB PDB) provides open access to the PDB data through an internet information portal RCSB.org. RCSB PDB connects the archival content with related annotations from ~40 external resources and creates tools that allow Users to search, browse, analyze, and visualize these combined sets of data. PDB-101 (pdb101.rcsb.org) is an education portal maintained by RCSB PDB to support teachers, students, and curious public with resources for guided exploration of the contents of the PDB archive. This poster highlights some of the RCSB’s interactive visualization tools that allow Users to explore the 3D structure, function, and genetic information of a PDB structure. It also showcases some PDB-101 resources that use the visualizations of PDB data for education.
