These effects create situations when one needs to thoroughly compare dozens of trees concurrently. Interactive visualization tools support the researcher in phylogeny comparison tasks to recognize shared and diverging properties between phylogenies. Thereby, the user gains a deeper understanding of the analyzed data. Previous works in the area of comparative phylogeny focused mainly on either comparison of just two phylogenetic trees or did not provide detailed views on the differences among multiple phylogenies. In contrast, we implement a novel methodology from the field of Visual Analytics, which allows the researcher to interactively navigate through a large number of trees based on a novel comparison score. Multiple views show different levels of tree comparison details. The application identifies and highlights differences and similarities in phylogenetic hierarchies both for whole trees and for local phylogenetic relationships using a novel algorithm depending on the user interest.
