Katy Börner: Keynote on Visual Design Principles

Katy Börner ( surveys visualization methods used in the life sciences, and reviews some key principles to emerge from visualization research. She then presents her 'VIVO' and 'Mapping Science' projects that seek to create visual summaries of activity within specific scientific disciplines. She also introduces her 'OSGI' middleware framework for integrating visualization and analysis tools across all of biology. This talk was presented at VIZBI 2012, an international conference series on visualizing biological data ( funded by EMBO & NIH.
