Fons Verbeek: Visualizing Developmental Anatomy

Fons Verbeek (http://www.liacs.nl/~fverbeek/) reviews the origins of 3D anatomical atlases and explains how modern atlases are generated. He highlights the user interfaces challenges of managing the complexity of anatomical annotation, for example, enabling visual navigatation of anatomical ontologies with tens of thousands of terms. This talk was presented at VIZBI 2012, an international conference series on visualizing biological data (http://vizbi.org) funded by EMBO & NIH. This video was filmed and distributed with permission under a creative common license.
